As a federal government department, the Immigration and Visa section is bound by the Privacy Act not to discuss the details of any case with anyone except the applicant and certain authorized persons. Before the High Commission or Consulate General authorities can release information, the applicant must provide us with specific written permission to do so. Only a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or temporary resident in Canada can obtain this information.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ALL VISA CATEGORIES

Please note that the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa.

Dear Applicants, Please be advised in order to submit your visa application, May we request you to please bring the first page photocopy of your current passport.

Passport with at least six months validity Please note that the Canadian High Commission does not accept additional pages inserted into passports. If you do not have a blank page to which a visa can be affixed, a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application. If possible, a passport should be valid for the duration of study in Canada, as the validity of a study permit cannot exceed the validity of the passport. Relevant Fee Fully completed application form appropriate to the type of visa requested with two original passport-size photographs [NB: digital photographs not acceptable]

OTHER INFORMATION

Children under 18 travelling without one or both parents or without a legal guardian must provide a notarized authorization for travel signed by both parents or by the parent or legal guardian not travelling. This authorization should be available for presentation at the Canadian Port of Entry. Please provide only photocopies of all documents, as we do not guarantee the return of any original documents. However, note that we reserve the right to request the original of any document provided. English or French translations must accompany any documents not originally in English or French Please ensure you complete the portion of the application form for spouse or common-law partner and children - regardless of whether they are accompanying or not (Note: children 18 and over must also submit their own application form). Passports must be valid for at least 6 months. Note: A temporary resident visa may not be issued beyond the validity of your current passport.

Visa Fees listed above are per applicant, including children except in case of group applications (family or entertainment groups applying at the same time and place). Please note that visa fees and other charges, once paid, are non-refundable even if the application is refused or withdrawn.

**VFS Processing Charges in Nepal should be in favor of "VF Services (Mauritius) Pte. Ltd & have to be payable in Kathmandu, Nepal. Demand Drafts are the only acceptable mode for payment in Nepal.

In India Cash is the only mode of payment for paying VFS Processing Charges & Visa Fee can also be paid in cash by opting Alternate payment option for payment of visa fees (Per Applicant).

Application for a temporary resident visa to visit Canada

This application is for persons from designated countries who wish to visit Canada for a temporary purpose, such as tourism, visiting family or friends, or business trips.

To find out if you need a temporary resident visa, check the list of countries and territories whose citizens need a visa to enter Canada to visit, study or work temporarily.

Those wishing to study or work temporarily in Canada will probably also need a study permit or work permit.

NEW: We have started a pilot project with a new application guide and forms for the following visa offices: Buffalo, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and Washington D.C. Applicants to these visa offices should use the new guide and forms. Applicants to all other visa offices should refer to the website for that visa office, as indicated below, for forms and instructions.

Many visa offices have specific local instructions about which documents you must submit with your application. You need to find out what they are, and make sure you include all the correct documents. Consult the list of Canadian visa offices abroad to find the office responsible for your country under “Applications for Temporary Resident Visas, Study Permits or Work Permits”.
